Description
The Flag Station and adjacent platform is a railway station and station house, now used as a house, built around 1863. It is constructed of brick with a tiled roof and brick stacks, featuring an irregular plan that is roughly aligned north-west to south-east. The building has two storeys. The south-west elevation includes two round-headed glazing bar sash windows on the left, in front of which is a loggia with three round arches and imposts. Behind the arches are additional sash windows and an entryway. To the right of the loggia, there is an advanced two-storey block with a 2-light sash window under a cambered head on the ground floor, a blind opening on the first floor, two plat bands, and a mono-pitched roof with a panelled stack. The platform in front is ramped on either side and constructed of rock-faced coursed sandstone. The interior was inaccessible during the re-survey in February 1987.
