Description
Old Hyde is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th to early 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and has a roof made of stone slate and slate. The building has a large sandstone rubble external end stack with a brick shaft. It consists of two bays that are aligned roughly north to south and stands two storeys tall.
The west elevation has three mid-20th century casement windows, along with a central first-floor wrought iron casement window from the early 19th century. There is a lean-to extension on the left side and an entry located in the south gable. The east elevation includes a single-storey gabled extension from around 1900, which has one sash window. The roof on the west side is covered with stone slates, while the east side features Welsh slates. The timber frame consists of four panels high from the cill to the wall-plates, with one brace from the post to the wall-plate on each side, located to the north of the center.
