Description
The churchyard cross, located about 10 yards southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Cuthbert, is likely from the 14th century and has undergone early 20th-century restorations. It is made of sandstone ashlar. The cross features three steps that were added in the 20th century. The medieval base has chamfered upper edges and supports the stump of an octagonal shaft that stands about two feet tall. The upper part of the shaft and the cross itself are from the 20th century. One of the steps includes an inscription honoring six men from the parish who fell in the Great War.
