Description
A row of late 18th and early 19th century houses and cottages is located on Bargates, Leominster. The building is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof and features four brick stacks, positioned at both the front and rear. Originally comprising seven units, comprising a two-storey wing to numbers 49-57, which are adjoined to numbers 45 and 47, a three-storey building. The building has a seven-window range, with three-light windows featuring central metal casements, although numbers 47 and 57 now have 20th-century casements. All windows are set beneath rusticated stucco lintels, and the eaves are detailed with brick modillions. Numbers 49-57 have matching four-panel doors (with a 20th-century six-panel door to number 55) beneath flat hoods with scrolled brackets and moulded architraves, accompanied by five three-light casements (a 20th-century casement to number 57). The rear elevation incorporates two-light casements within moulded brick and stucco surrounds, along with a variety of doors and three-light casements to numbers 45 and 47. The interiors have not been inspected.
