Description

The Donne Monument is a chest tomb located about 10 yards southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Michael. It commemorates Thomas Donne, who died in 1768. The tomb is made of finely cut red sandstone and features a flat moulded capping and a moulded base. The side panels are adorned with raised egg-and-dart margins and eared corners that enclose paterae. The end panels also have similar margins, each containing a cartouche.
