Description
The building is a pair of stables located about 20 yards north-west of Hanley Court, dated with a plaque that reads "AC/174(?)8(?)". The stables feature a sandstone rubble plinth and a roof made of brick and concrete tiles. They consist of five structural bays arranged in a north-east to south-west orientation and stand two storeys tall.
On the south-east elevation, there are three loft openings, with the outer openings having segmental heads. The centre is advanced and features a blind opening along with the date plaque. There are four ground floor openings: one on each side and two narrow ones flanking the central ledged entry beneath the gable. There is a second entry to the left of the advanced centre.
Inside, the stables have raking struts that connect the ties to the principals. To the left of the gabled centre, there is a third level in the roof space that includes a pitching gallery, which overlooks the centre from the left side through a brick cross-wall that extends up to the apex of the roof.
