Description
The pair of Gethin memorials, located about 5 metres east of the Church of St Michael, are pedestal memorials dating from the mid-18th century and early 19th century. They are made of ashlar stone. The southern memorial features a stepped plinth and a pedestal supported by four claw feet, with a frieze and an urn finial on top. The inscription on the west side honors Esther, the wife of John Gethin, who died on January 15th, 1824, at the age of 64. The northern memorial has a pedestal on a moulded plinth, with a moulded cornice and an urn finial. Its earliest inscription on the east face commemorates Elisha Gethin, who died on July 25th, 1746, at the age of 50, along with his wife Mary, who died on January 11th, 1753, at the age of 54, and their son Elisha, who died on July 24th, 1744, at the age of 13.
