Description

The Mary Evans memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 3 meters south of the chancel arch of the Church of St Deinst. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features a moulded plinth and capping, with rectangular panels that have a scrolled foliated surround to the cartouche. This is flanked by squat balusters topped with gadrooned capping. The memorial commemorates Mary, the wife of Francis Evans, who died in 1767.
