Description

Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with alterations and restoration from the 20th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features internal timber-framed partitions, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has an L-plan layout, with the main house oriented southwest to northeast and a wing extending northwest from the southeast end, which is now derelict. The entrance is located in the northeast gable end and includes a main stack and a winder staircase, which was originally made of stone but has been rebuilt in timber.

The farmhouse is a single storey with an attic and basement. On the southeast front, there is a central glazed dormer window with a 20th-century glazing bar casement window, along with two similar 20th-century windows on the ground floor. The northeast gable end retains a 3-light wooden mullioned window that illuminates the staircase, as well as a square-headed wooden chamfered framed doorway with a nail-studded door. On the northwest side of the main house, there is another similar wooden framed doorway with a battened door, which was formerly an internal door leading to the northwest wing. The northwest gable end of the derelict wing shows remnants of a stone winder staircase and a fireplace with chamfered jambs and lintel.

Inside the main house, there are fine chamfered ceiling beams, and an internal partition features a chamfered door frame and a battened door.
