Description
Rockyfold is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, constructed of sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof. It has a rectangular plan featuring a central projecting porch wing and gable-end stacks, with an integral stone winder staircase located at the south-west gable end. The building is two storeys high. The south-east front has three-light casement windows on either side of the forward projecting two-storey porch, which includes a 2-light window. The inner doorway is low and squat, framed in heavy wood with a three-centred arched head, and it has a heavy battened door. Inside, the farmhouse retains chamfered plank-and-muntin internal divisions with squat triangular-headed doorways and well-crafted chamfered ceilings. There is also a stone winder staircase with oak treads. To the left of the main south-west stack, there is a small malt kiln or kell featuring a pierced tiled floor.
