Description
The dovecot, located about 30 yards north-north-east of Pencoyd Court, is likely from the early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings and features a pyramidical slate roof topped with a louvred glover and curved hipped lead capping. The dovecot has a square plan, and its south elevation includes a first-floor opening with a 2-centred head positioned to the right of centre, beneath which is a segmentally-headed doorway.
Adjoining walls, standing 12 feet high, extend approximately 20 yards to the east and west from the back wall of the dovecot. These walls are also made of sandstone rubble and topped with pantiled capping, forming the southern boundary of the Church of St Dennis. A third wall runs southward for about 12 yards towards Pencoyd Court, matching the height of the other two walls but featuring a flat sandstone coping and an entrance near its southern end.
