Description
26 New Street is a 17th-century building that was formerly known as the Vine Tap Inn. It features two gables on the front, with one side being timber-framed and the other made of painted brick from the 18th century. The timber frame section has fairly wide brick-filled panels that are colourwashed. The building stands two storeys tall, with two 2-light casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor has an early 19th-century wide canted bay window with glazing bars and a wide cornice supported by shaped brackets, above wide double flush panel doors set in a moulded doorcase. This building is part of a group that includes No 12 Old Talbot Inn, Vine House, Nos 18 to 24 (even), a barn at the rear of No 24, Glenmoir, Linden House, and Alviston House.
