Description
This is a row of six headstones from the 18th century, located about 15 to 25 yards south of the south nave aisle of the Church of St Bartholomew in Much Marcle. They are made of sandstone and are aligned north to south. The northernmost headstone commemorates John Clinton, who died in 1775, featuring a segmental head with central scrolls and two cherub heads above a deeply carved inscription. The southernmost headstone is for William Cook, who died in 1761, and has a segmental head with a Rococo asymmetrical carved surround to the inscription.
