Description
Nos 5 and 7 on The Homend, formerly known as the New Inn, is a building from the 17th century that was refronted in the 18th century. It has three storeys and is constructed of colourwashed brick. There is a brick band between the floors. The building features three sash windows without glazing bars, each with flat arches and keyblocks. No 5, located on the right, is stuccoed and has a canted bay window on the first floor, two sashes on the second floor, and a Victorian shop front on the ground floor. The ground floor also includes two Victorian square bays and a central coach door with an elliptical arch. The roof is tiled with gabled ends and has brick dentil eaves. There is exposed timber framing on either side and at the rear of the building. The first floor on the south return projects widely. This building is part of a group with Nos 1 to 21 (odd) and Nos 1 to 5 (consecutive) on Church Street.
