Description
This barn, located about 25 metres north-east of Lower Court, dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-frame structure built on a concrete and rubble plinth, with some original woven infill panels still visible. The exterior is weatherboarded and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of seven framed bays, with a three-bay cross-wing at the south-east end, which dates from the mid to late 17th century. The main barn is arranged with two bays, a threshing floor, two bays (which were formerly divided), another threshing floor, and one additional bay. The framing includes three square panels high, and most trusses have two queen struts to the collar, except for the north-west gable, which features six intersecting raking struts that create a decorative effect, although this is now obscured externally by the weatherboarding.
