Description

The Orchards is a farmhouse that dates back to 1835, as indicated by the initials "W T 1835" in the brickwork on the north end. It is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof and end stacks, featuring two storeys and a cellar. The front has three windows with glazing-bar sashes and a central early 20th-century glazed porch that includes a six-panelled door with an interlaced fanlight. There is a dentilled brick eaves cornice above. Attached to the left is an 18th-century timber-framed wing, which was likely used as a dairy, and it has a tiled roof. The Orchards was previously known as Priggle's Farmhouse.
