Description
This barn, located about 20 yards south of number 33 on High Street in Leintwardine, is likely from the 18th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a timber frame with weatherboards and a sandstone rubble gable, topped with a tiled roof. The barn has a rectangular plan that runs east to west. The west elevation facing the road is made of sandstone rubble and includes three vent loops, with one centrally placed above a pair. To the left of the left loop, there is a circular road sign from around 1930, enamelled in black and yellow, measuring about 18 inches in diameter. The sign reads: "AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION A A & MOTOR UNION KNIGHTON 8¼ LEINTWARDINE LUDLOW 8¾ LONDON 150¾ SAFETY FIRST." The north elevation has four loft openings set in weatherboards, with four ledged doors beneath them, and a two-leaved garage door on the right-hand side. Interior access was not permitted during the resurvey in April 1986. The barn is included for its group value.
