Description

The Bowers Monument is a chest tomb located about 30 yards south of the southwest corner of the south nave aisle of the Church of St Bartholomew in Much Marcle. It commemorates Francis Bowers, who died in 1788. The monument is made of finely cut sandstone ashlar and features a moulded and hipped capping. The end panels are designed as continuous full-width balusters with fluted friezes, while the side panels have deeply moulded surrounds and quadrant corners.
