Description
Llanwonnog Farmhouse and the adjoining cow shed date from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble, with some painted brick, and features a roof that is partly tiled and partly covered with corrugated asbestos. The farmhouse has an irregular plan, with the original house oriented northwest to southeast and a cross-wing at the southeast end. A late 19th-century addition extends to the northwest and connects with the cow shed.
The southwest front of the farmhouse includes the cow shed on the left, which has two square-headed doorways, and double draught doors to the right. The roofline of the connecting addition is slightly higher, with steps leading up to an upper doorway located to the left of the ground floor's square-headed doorway. The cross-wing has a higher roofline and features one two-light glazing bar casement window, with another window blocked by the raised roofline of the central hall range. There are three two-light 20th-century windows and a lean-to 20th-century porch at the angle to the left of a similar two-light casement window, along with a ledged doorway to the right. The gable end of the cross-wing has one two-light 20th-century casement and a part-glazed ledged door.
Inside the hall range, the bases of two cruck trusses are visible, though obscured from above by later coverings. There is a large open fireplace with a massive stone lintel, and an ogee-headed doorway to the left of the fireplace. A doorway with a square-headed surround leads from the central hall range to the cross-wing. The cow shed, located to the southwest, consists of three bays and retains two largely complete cruck trusses.
