Description

The ruins of the former parish Church of St Peter stand approximately 20 yards south of The Old Vicarage. The church, likely dating from the 12th century, was replaced by a new Church of St Peter in 1880. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings. The rectangular plan is largely visible, although the west wall is missing. The remaining walls stand about five feet high and are uniformly capped with concrete. A blocked north door and diagonal buttresses are still visible. Reports indicate the church had fallen into disrepair before 1880. An illustration dating from around 1830 of the church was located in the vestry of the Church of St Peter during a survey in June 1986. The site is a scheduled Ancient Monument, designated as Bullingham Old Church (County number 130).
