Description

Rock Farmhouse is a late 16th or early 17th century farmhouse located in Lugwardine. It is timber-framed with painted brick and wattle-and-daub infill, and sits upon a sandstone plinth, with tiled roofs. The farmhouse comprises a hall and a cross-wing, incorporating a through-passage and a main axial stack. The building is two storeys high. A three-light window is present in the gable end of the cross-wing to the left, while the hall has two 2-light casement windows. To the right of a 20th-century gabled porch with a half-glazed door, there is one large 4-light window and a smaller 2-light window. The axial stack features three diagonal-plan shafts. The timber framing consists of four square panels from sill to wall-plate, with braces in the top panel connecting the main posts to the wall-plate, and V-struts within the gables. There are continuous weatherings to the horizontal members on the north front. While the interior has not been assessed, it is likely to be of interest.
