Description
This description pertains to a group of two chest tombs made of ashlar, located approximately 5 meters south-west of the west tower of the Church of St Giles. These tombs date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They feature a moulded plinth and capping, with shaped consoles on either side of a semi-circular inscription panel that has a lower swag and a further top scroll along the long sides. The end panels display an oval wreath with a bow, while the east end contains Fletcher monograms. The northern tomb commemorates John Fletcher, who died in 1670, and Thomas Fletcher, who died in 1699. The southern tomb commemorates Thomas Fletcher, who died in 1708. The inscriptions on the tombs are largely illegible.
