Description
The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage dated 1710, which has been extensively altered in the mid to late 19th century. The main elevation features ashlar facing, while the rear and adjoining service range are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, topped with a slate roof that is hipped on the front range. The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance and stairwell, and a later service range attached to the west of the main house. It stands two storeys high with attics and a cellar.
The façade includes five later inserted plain sash windows with horns; two of these are positioned at a higher level on the ground floor to the east, while a large paired sash window and a 20th-century glazing bar sash window are located to the west of the entrance. Access is via four stone steps leading up to a six-panelled door, which is topped by a lintel bearing the date and initials R L along with a coat of arms, and there is a damaged fire insurance plaque above. The service range features three plain sash windows.
