Description
Rowberry House, formerly known as No. 131 St Owen Street, is a house that has been converted into offices and a hairdresser's. It dates from the early 19th century and features a painted brick exterior with a Welsh slate mansard roof. The building stands four storeys tall with a cellar and has a three-window range. The windows include Gothick-glazed 9/6 sashes set in moulded cases beneath segmental arches, a storey band, 6/6 sashes with cambered heads in moulded cases, another storey band, and 3/3 sashes. The eaves are moulded wood.
The entrance is located to the right and consists of a six-panel door with a fanlight glazed overlight, all beneath a moulded cambered wood hood supported by wrought-iron brackets. To the left, there are two 20th-century shop windows framed by plain pilasters, with a 20th-century fascia board partially obscuring the storey band. The building also features a firemark.
Inside, there is an early 19th-century dogleg staircase with turned balusters and newels, and a stick baluster stair leading to the third floor. On the second floor, there are two two-panel doors, a half-glazed panel door, exposed ceiling beams, and two 19th-century fireplaces. The first floor includes a six-panel door, architraves, and lined reveals at the front windows. The ground floor showcases pilasters with capitals.
