Description

14 St Owen Street is a house, now used as offices, dating from the early 17th century with 19th-century alterations. The building features a timber-frame construction with a stucco finish and a tiled roof, complemented by a brick stack. It has two storeys and a three-window range, showcasing 6/6 sash windows set in moulded architraves with keyblocks. The entrance consists of a six-panel door with an overlight and hood, and to the left are three additional 6/6 sashes in similar moulded architraves. The façade includes three mullioned windows with margin-glazing, also in moulded architraves with keyblocks, along with quoins and a parapet.

Inside, there is a stick baluster winder staircase leading to the attic. The attic features a 17th-century roof with windbraces and open tenon rafters with a ridge purlin. On the first floor, there are moulded ceiling frames at two levels, two early 18th-century three-panel doors (possibly reused pairs), a two-panel door, a part-glazed six-panel door, wall cupboards, a four-panel door, and 19th-century fireplaces. The ground floor showcases 17th-century panelling with a carved frieze, moulded ceiling beams, four-panel doors, wall cupboards, part-glazed four-panel doors, and a 19th-century fire surround. The cellar has a two-panel door and is brick-lined with good shelving.
