Description
25 St Owen Street is a mid-18th century house that has been converted into offices. It is constructed from brick with a sandstone plinth and features a plain tiled gambrel roof, along with brick end stacks on the right side. The building has an E-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The façade has a three-window range, with stone sill bands supporting plain sashes that are set beneath gauged brick flat arches. The eaves are decorated with painted modillioned details.
The entrance is located to the left and consists of a six-panel door with an overlight, framed in a round-headed moulded case that features an open pediment hood supported by pilasters with consoles. To the right of the entrance are two plain 19th-century sashes with painted reveals, also under gauged brick flat arches and a stone band. The rear elevation includes full-length 9/9 sashes on the ground floor.
Inside, the building retains a notable 18th-century dogleg staircase with turned balusters, a moulded rail, and fretted brackets leading to the second floor. The second floor features panelled wall cupboards, panelled reveals, mantelpieces, panelled doors, and a fire surround. On the ground floor, the main room at the rear right is distinguished by four marble columns, a frieze, a fire surround, and six-panel doors. The cellar contains many fittings and is in excellent condition.
