Description
10 and 12 St Owen Street are former houses, now used as offices, dating from the late 18th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with a slate roof and feature a central brick stack. They have a symmetrical three-storey design with a seven-window range, where sash windows are present on the first and second floors, although the central window appears to be blocked. A stone band and a moulded pediment with a possibly false lunette window enhance the façade.
The buildings have two-storey recessed wings that contain single sash windows and six-panel doors with plain overlights, along with banding and a parapet. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a fanlight and an open pediment hood supported by round pilasters.
Inside No. 12, there is an early 19th-century dogleg staircase with stick balusters and a swan neck rail. The second floor includes an 18th-century fireplace, wall cupboards, and four four-panel doors with architraves. On the first floor, there are two 18th-century fireplaces, a 19th-century wall cupboard, a picture rail, architraves, and five six-panel doors with architraves, along with a reeded architrave to a panelled opening, an arched ceiling, and a 19th-century fireplace. The ground floor features four six-panel doors with architraves, coving, architrave and panelled shutters on the windows, an architrave on a cupboard door, a probable 18th-century fireplace, one four-panel door, a decorated ceiling, coving and rails, two 19th-century fireplaces (one with tiles), a dado rail, and lined reveals with architraves to an arch in the hall. The cellar is mainly brick-lined and has chamfered ceiling beams, a plank door, and stone stack bases.
