Description

Number 8 on The Southend is an 18th-century building with a stuccoed exterior and a tiled roof featuring gabled ends. It stands three storeys tall and has one window, which is a two-light casement with cambered heads. The ground floor showcases a well-preserved early 19th-century shop front, complete with fluted pilasters, an entablature with a wide cornice, two canted shop windows, and a central glazed and panelled door topped by a rectangular fanlight. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 4, the Royal Oak Hotel, and Nos 6 to 11 on The Southend, as well as Nos 2 to 8 on New Street.
