Description

The John Smith monument is a chest tomb located about 25 yards south of the junction of the nave and tower of the Church of St Bartholomew in Much Marcle. It commemorates John Smith, who died in 181?. The tomb is made of finely cut sandstone and features a moulded base and capping, which has hips. It is adorned with gadrooned and fluted corner balusters and has advanced side inscription panels.
