Description

This barn, located about 200 yards south of Flapgate Cottage, likely dates from the early to mid-18th century. It features a timber frame with brick panels that include lozenge-patterned ventilators and is topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. The structure consists of three bays and has opposed central entrances with double full-height ledged doors. Inside, there is a threshing floor, and the trusses are designed with raking struts connecting to the principals from the tie-beams. The framing includes three panels reaching up to the eaves, with braces supporting the corner posts in the gable ends and posts flanking the entrances.
