Description
The Broad is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, with an earlier core. It is constructed of brick on an ashlar plinth and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has three brick lateral stacks, located at the right rear on a rubble base.
It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range, with 8/8 sash windows set in rendered reveals, all under stepped stucco lintels that include keyblocks and plastered soffits. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an ornamental fanlight, situated in round-headed panelled reveals beneath a stucco arch, which has a missing hood and is supported by moulded pilasters. This entrance is flanked by two similar 8/8 sash windows.
On the right side, there is a 20th-century light under a segmental arch and a 19th-century light at the second floor at the rear. The rear of the building is rendered and likely has an earlier eaves-line, rising to three storeys. It features two 19th-century casements on each floor, a part-glazed plank door to the right, a 20th-century part-glazed door with a blocked overlight to the centre left, and a 20th-century casement. The interior has not been inspected.
