Description
The granary and attached barn, located approximately 10 meters north-west of Lewstone Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century and were altered in the 20th century. Constructed from sandstone rubble with slate roofs, the building has a rectangular plan oriented south-west to north-east, featuring the granary section to the north-east and the barn section to the south-west.
The granary consists of two bays and stands two storeys high, with altered openings that include one square-headed opening on the first floor and two doorways on the ground floor. The barn to the south-west has three bays, a central opening, and an inserted floor in the south-west bay, along with 20th-century inserted windows. The north-east bay features two loop vents above a continuous row of square pigeon nesting boxes with an alighting ledge below the eaves. A circular owl hole is present in a square panel on the north-east gable, with 20th-century inserted windows below it. The building retains its picturesque smeared render and collar-and-tie-beam trusses, which include inclined struts.
