Description

Grove Farmhouse and the attached granary are a farmhouse likely built in the 17th and 18th centuries, with a granary added in the late 18th to early 19th centuries and later alterations. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble and timber-frame, topped with Welsh slate roofs, and features sandstone rubble and brick stacks. It has a rectangular plan oriented north to south, with a small projection to the west at the south end and the granary to the north.

The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic. The east elevation includes four windows: three are 3-light casements from the 20th century, and one is a 2-light casement located to the left of centre. There is a gabled dormer with a 2-light late 19th-century casement to the right of centre. Below the dormer, the windows have blocked segmental heads above the casements, and the timber-frame is exposed to the left. A gabled 20th-century porch with a glazed return is located to the left of centre, featuring an entry with a segmental head, while a glazed lean-to porch from the 20th century is to the right.

The granary projects slightly and has two segmentally headed openings, with stairs to the loft rising from the left. The west elevation features a front stack to the small gabled projection. Inside the granary, there are three structural bays, and the trusses have raking struts connecting the ties to the principals. The interior of the farmhouse has not been inspected.
