Description

The Old Vicarage is a vicarage that likely dates from the 17th century, with additions and alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and brick, featuring sandstone dressings and some areas finished in stucco. The roof is made of tile and Welsh slate, with brick stacks. The building has a roughly square plan and a garden front facing southeast.

It stands two storeys tall, with the southeast elevation displaying three windows in a 3:1 arrangement and a late 19th-century gabled front to the right. The left part, which is stuccoed, features two gabled half-dormers on either side of an early 19th-century glazing bar sash window. The 19th-century section has three sash windows in stone surrounds positioned at a higher level. On the ground floor, there are three canted bay windows, with the middle one containing glazing bar sashes. A nine-pane glazed door is located at the center of the left part.

Although the interior was not inspected, it has been noted by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England as having exposed ceiling beams, 17th-century doors, a 17th-century floor slab, and fragments of medieval glass. The building is included for its group value.
