Description
This building is a cottage with an attached hop kiln, located approximately 15 meters west-northwest of Stagbatch Farmhouse. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century and was likely originally built as a cottage, though it has had various uses over time. The structure is timber-framed with render, and the ground floor on the west bays is made of rubble. It has a Welsh slate roof and a 20th-century brick stack on a rear lean-to. The cottage is two stories high and features a four-window range, with 20th-century two-light casements and a 20th-century three-over-six sash window on the left.
To the right is an early 19th-century hop kiln made of brick with a plain tile roof. It has a louvred opening above a blocked opening, which is set under brick segmental arches, along with a weatherboarded projection and a 20th-century lightwell over the cottage gable. The hop drying floor remains in situ. At the rear, there is a gable wing and a weatherboarded lean-to that includes two 20th-century doors and various 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected.
