Description
The barn and stable located about 25 yards east of Strickstenning Hall is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, featuring a timber-frame with brick nogging and a Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan, consisting of a four- or five-bay barn and a two-bay stable, aligned in a south-west to north-east direction, with the stable at the north-east end.
There are two levels to the structure. The north-west elevation shows the barn on the right, which has a deep sandstone plinth and a full-height wagon entry accessed through two-leaved ledged doors on the right side. The barn features regular square framing with three panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate. To the left is the stable, which includes a two-light window on the first floor and a chamfered doorway that is partly blocked and has a cambered head. The north-east gable contains two chamfered openings, one for each storey. Inside, the building has raking strut trusses and collar trusses supported by queen struts. Strickstenning Hall is not included in this listing.
