Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres east of Freetown Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a tiled roof. The barn consists of five bays arranged in an east/west orientation, with a central threshing floor. On either side of the entrance, which is now partly blocked and obscured by 20th-century additions that are not of special interest, there are two rows of three loop vents. Similar vents are found in the gable ends, where the brickwork at the apex is perforated to form a lozenge shape. Inside, the barn has spur walls, inclined strut trusses, and two tiers of purlins.
