Description
This cart shed and granary, located approximately 20 meters south-east of Tregate Castle Farmhouse, likely dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a corrugated metal roof. The structure has four bays that run in a north-west to south-east direction, with steps leading to the granary at the north-west end. The north-east side was originally open and included drum piers with remnants of capitals, along with a short wall supported by wooden lintels and covered by a picturesque pentice, which is now also clad in metal. The openings on this side have been blocked with weatherboarding. The north-west bay has been converted into a stable, featuring a square-headed doorway and wooden slats for the window, while there are garage openings on the south-west side. Additionally, there is an 18th-century wooden surround for the granary door.
