Description
This barn, located about 10 yards west of the Summer House, is likely from the late 17th century to the 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th or early 20th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame that has been partly rebuilt in brick, topped with a combination of half-hipped sandstone slate and corrugated iron roofs. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of three bays on the left and four bays on the right, oriented roughly north/south, and it has two levels.
The west elevation shows a lower three-bay section on the left, which is weatherboarded and has a corrugated iron roof. This section includes two openings at the upper level and a ledged door to the right. The taller five-bay section to the right has a sandstone tile roof that is half-hipped on the right side, with three openings to the loft and two ledged doors. The east elevation of the lower part is also weatherboarded, while the five-bay section has been re-fronted in brick. Inside, the barn features raking strut trusses. It is included for its group value.
