Description
Nos. 26-27 on Church Street are early 19th-century shops and dwellings. The building is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and features a central brick ridge stack. It stands three storeys tall with a cellar and has a four-window range, showcasing 6/6 sash windows under brick segmental arches, with 3/3 sashes above. The eaves are adorned with brick modillion detailing.
The twin shop fronts, also from the early 19th century, have central entrances with part-glazed doors and ornamental overlights, flanked by bow windows, two of which include clerestory lights. The shop fronts feature moulded sills and pilasters, with the left side displaying a 20th-century two-leaf door and grille above. A moulded fascia board and hood run across the top of the shop fronts.
On the left side, the gable exhibits stick framing, and there is a gas lamp present.
