Description
This is a substantial early 19th century house, now offices, with mid-19th century extensions. It is built of colourwashed stucco with a hipped slate roof, overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets, and three rendered ridge stacks. A single wood and glass stair lantern is centrally located on the roof. The building stands on a painted plinth.
The main part of the house is two storeys and four bays. A single bay projects to the right, also with a hipped roof. This projecting bay features a two-storey bow with a conical roof, featuring a central archway with a moulded surround and keystone. Either side of the archway are blind arched recessed panels. The entrance doorway has a partly glazed door with marginal lights and an arched overlight; decorative panelling to the reveals incorporates a reeded arch with two patera. To the right of the entrance is a tripartite glazing bar sash window. Further to the right, and to the left, are single-storey, single-bay projecting wings, each with a tripartite sash window and a narrow sash window in each side wall. Above the bow, three glazing bar sashes are present. To the left is a single sash window, and to the right, two similar windows. To the left, set back, is a lower two-storey, single-bay wing with a flight of iron steps leading to a doorway on the first floor.
The garden front is two storeys and twelve bays. The sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth bays are set back, with gables over the seventh, eighth, and ninth bays. The remainder of the garden front has eaves consistent with the front elevation. The right seven bays feature a moulded first-floor band. Five low glazing bar sashes are present, followed by a doorway with a panelled door and overlight. Further to the right are three glazing bar sashes, and on the far right, three glazing bar sashes with hood moulds and decorative label stops. Above are five glazing bar sashes, followed by a single small glazing bar sash with a flight of iron steps leading off. Further to the right are three glazing bar sashes, and on the far right, three similar sashes with hood moulds and decorative label stops. The gable apex has a single quatrefoil.
The interior hall has a decorative plaster ceiling. The staircase has decorative wrought iron balusters, and the walls are panelled.
