Description
Ruddington House is a house built around 1770, with an early 19th-century extension. It features colourwashed stucco with an ashlar plinth and a hipped slate roof that has a modillioned eaves cornice. The house has single red brick stacks at the front and right. The 18th-century front is three storeys high and consists of three bays. The outer single bays are two-storey bows, each topped with a modillioned cornice that extends over the central bay, creating a pediment above the first-floor opening.
The central doorway has a six-fielded panel door with a decorative overlight. Flanking the doorway are single pilasters with fluted imposts that extend to form a frieze. Above the pilasters are fluted brackets, each featuring a single patera that supports a modillion and patera pediment. Each bow contains three glazing bar sashes separated by single pilasters. Above each bow are three smaller sashes, with a single central glazing bar sash in each. In the outer single bays, there are paired glazing bar sashes.
To the right of the main structure is a two-storey, two-bay 19th-century wing that has two low glazing bar sashes and two smaller sashes above. To the left, set back, is another two-storey, two-bay wing with a single sash on the ground floor and two similar sashes above, the right one being gabled over, all under segmental arches.
