Description

The wall, railings, and gateways to Ruddington Free School were built in 1875 and are made of red brick, with some areas rendered, as well as ashlar and iron elements. The structure features a low red brick wall, which is rendered in parts and has ashlar coping. There are regularly spaced ashlar-coped brick piers along the wall. Decorative spiked railings extend between these piers and over the wall. The wall starts at a domestic blocked gateway with two similar piers and runs for 25 metres north along Asher Lane. It then turns at a right angle and continues for 19 metres east along The Green, ending at a larger restored gateway that features a double iron gate matching the railings. This structure is included for its group value only.
