Description

Brompton House, along with its attached walls and summerhouse, was built in 1836 and features mid-19th century extensions. The house is constructed of red brick and has pantile and slate roofs, with four gable stacks and one lateral stack. It is two stories high.

The street-facing side has an off-centre doorway that includes a glazed fanlight and a half-glazed door, with a glazing bar sash above, all set within a round-headed arch. To the left, there is a blocked doorway with a blind window above it. Further along, there is a pair of inserted plain sashes, with a glazing bar sash above, also within a round-headed arch. To the right, there is a 20th-century door and a garage entrance featuring a roller shutter and overlights, above which is a flush glazing bar sash.

On the garden front, there is an off-centre plank door, with a glazing bar sash to the left and a two-light casement to the right. Above these, there are two glazing bar sashes. To the right, a projecting wing features a plank door with an overlight and a three-light casement above a 20th-century casement. The east front of this wing has a canted bay window on the ground floor with glazing bar sashes and a glazed door, with a single glazing bar sash above.

Inside, the house contains a stick baluster staircase and various original fireplaces, with shutters on some windows. The garden is enclosed by a six-foot high brick wall with brick coping, and in the northeast corner, there is a square brick summerhouse with a round-arched doorway.
