Description
18 and 18A Market Place are two houses with a service wing, now serving as an office. They were built in the early to mid-19th century and have some 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed of brick, stucco, and whitewash, featuring hipped slate roofs and a flat stone plinth. Notable architectural details include moulded eaves and coped parapets. The structures are two and three storeys high, with four and three bays respectively. Most windows are glazing bar sashes, with the left side having moulded architraves. The west side features a mix of sashes and 20th-century windows. The front façade includes a Doric portico with a parapet and a blocked door on the left, flanked by single sashes, and a triple sash to the right. Further right, there is a portico added in 1984 that contains a door with an overlight, flanked by single sashes. To the far right, there is a 20th-century single-storey addition with a sash window. Above this, there is an off-centre triple sash flanked by three sashes, and above again, to the left, three smaller sashes. The east side has 20th-century windows.
