Description
Meadows Suspension Bridge is a suspension footbridge built in 1906 and restored in 1983, possibly designed by M.O. Tarbotton. The bridge features plain and rockfaced ashlar stonework along with wrought iron elements. It has battered, buttressed suspension towers, each adorned with a moulded, keystoned round-headed arch that includes an iron lamp bracket. Above these arches are similar arches flanked by paired Doric columns that support an entablature and parapet. The wooden deck is surrounded by a latticed guard rail. The approach ramps each have two round-headed passageways and moulded plinths that support iron railings.
