Description

Netherfield Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with an extension of two bays added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and coursed rubble, with pantile roofs, some of which are 20th century replacements. The building has brick and rubble plinths, brick quoins and dressings, cogged and dentillated eaves, and coped gables. Two gaule and single ridge stacks are present. The house is two storeys high and comprises six bays of unequal size. The windows are late 20th-century casements and Yorkshire sashes. Most openings have segmental heads. The street front features an off-centre casement window, flanked to the left by a single sash and to the right by two sashes of varying sizes. The north-west gable has a small barred opening. The garden front incorporates a close-boarded door, flanked to the left by a sash and to the right by a casement window. Further to the right is a door flanked by single casements. Beneath, a cellar opening is visible. The building is listed for group value.
