Description

The stable block at Bunny Hall is an early 18th-century structure, with some 20th-century alterations, designed and built for Sir Thomas Parkyns. It features red brick, some blue brick, and half-timbering, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has two red brick stacks at the ridge and left gable, with brick coped gables and kneelers. It is a single storey plus attic and consists of 19 bays.

The third, fourth, and fifth bays from the right are gabled and half-timbered. From left to right, the façade includes a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window, a doorway with a plank door, five small semi-circular fixed lights with brick keyblocks, a single glazing bar casement, a single 20th-century casement, and a doorway set into a half-timbered gabled surround with a 20th-century glazed door and marginal lights. There are also four similar semi-circular lights with keyblocks, a single similar semi-circular opening set into a now blocked larger archway, and in front, a single flight of wooden steps. Additional features include two similar semi-circular lights and keyblocks, and a single glazing bar casement. Above the gabled bays is a doorway with a part-glazed door, and to the left, there is a single flat-topped dormer with a tripartite glazing bar casement. Iron railings project from the right bays, forming kennels. The left gable wall displays some blue brick diaper work. Attached to the left is a range of barns that are listed as a separate item. Sir Thomas Parkyns, who lived from around 1662 to 1741, undertook significant improvements and nearly rebuilt Bunny Hall according to his designs.
