Description

Eagle House and Anchor Down are two cottages that were formerly a public house, built in the late 18th century with later 19th-century extensions and alterations. They are constructed of painted red brick and feature pantile roofs, with the left single bay having a hipped roof. There are single red brick stacks on the left, at the ridge, and on the right gable, which is raised and has brick coping and a kneeler. The eaves have a dogtooth design. The building is two storeys plus a garret and has four bays, with the left single bay being an early 19th-century addition that is slightly higher.

The 18th-century wing has a central gabled porch made of red brick and pantile, which is closed off and features a six-fielded panel door with an overlight. To the right, there is a late 19th-century polygonal projecting bay made of red brick and slate, with a central glazed double door flanked by single casement windows. On the left, there is a single 19th-century sash window, with two similar sashes above and a single central blocked window opening. The left single bay includes a two-storey late 19th-century projecting polygonal bay, with each storey having a single central sash window flanked by similar sashes.

In the north wall, there is a doorway with a six-fielded panel door. At the rear, there is a late 19th-century two-storey wing and an outshut under a catslide roof, which features a single round-arched fixed light with glazing bars. The courtyard is paved with blue bricks.
