Description

Trent House is a late 18th and early 19th century house situated on Main Street, Fiskerton cum Morton. The house is constructed of red brick with a hipped slate roof, featuring two ridge stacks and one lateral wall stack. The symmetrical facade, facing the river, is of two storeys and four bays, with a prominent three-bay central projection that extends through two storeys and is topped with a pyramidal roof. The windows are regularly spaced 6/6 glazing bar sashes, with five windows on each storey; lower windows have rubbed brick flat arches, while upper windows have flat lintels. A two-storey extension is set back to the left of the river facade. The house was most probably built by the Trent Navigation Company, taking advantage of its commanding position on the river front. The more vernacular rear facade highlights the importance of the river frontage.
